Commodity

Sesame seeds

Natural white and mixed sesame from Nigeria's northern belt.

Overview

Nigeria is one of the world's larger sesame producers, with most of the crop grown by smallholders in the north-central and north-eastern states. Sownar sources natural (unhulled) white and mixed sesame through cooperatives and aggregators in those regions, cleaned and dried at partner facilities before bagging. Sesame is our lead commodity and the one most buyers come to us for.

Typical uses: Oil crushing, hulling and tahini, bakery and confectionery.
