Frequently asked questions
Straight answers.
The questions buyers usually ask before a first order. If yours is not here, send it to us.
Enquiries
How do I request a quote?
Use the enquiry form on the Contact page or email business@sownargroup.com. Tell us the commodity, the quantity, the destination port and the specification you need, and we reply within one business day with availability and an indicative price.
What is your minimum order quantity?
It depends on the commodity and the season. As a guide, most buyers work in full-container quantities (one 20-foot container upward). Smaller trial quantities can sometimes be arranged; ask and we will tell you what is realistic.
Quality & testing
How do you assure quality?
Every lot is tested against the specification in your contract through accredited laboratories and inspection agencies, and only what passes is shipped. You receive the laboratory's certificates directly, which is what most buyers and customs authorities want.
Which tests can you arrange?
Commonly requested tests include moisture content, purity and foreign matter, aflatoxin, oil content and pesticide residues. Other parameters can be arranged if a laboratory in Nigeria or at destination can perform them. Tell us your spec and we will confirm what is possible.
Can I get a sample before ordering?
Yes, for most commodities. Samples are drawn from the lot we intend to ship. The cost of courier and, in some cases, the sample itself is agreed in advance and usually credited against the first order.
Documentation
Which export documents do you provide?
The standard set is a commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, phytosanitary certificate and bill of lading, along with NEPC-related export documentation. Fumigation certificates, third-party inspection reports and any destination-specific certificates are arranged on request.
Shipping
Which Incoterms do you work with?
FOB is the usual basis. CFR and CIF can be quoted on request for most destinations.
How long does shipment take?
Preparation and documentation typically take two to four weeks from confirmed order, depending on the commodity, season and testing required. Sea freight time then depends on the destination. We give a lead time with every quote and update you if it changes.
Payment
What payment terms do you accept?
A confirmed irrevocable letter of credit, agreed per contract. We will discuss what works for the size of the order.
About Sownar
Is Sownar a registered exporter?
Yes. Sownar Limited is registered in Nigeria and registered with the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC). Registration details are available on request.
How do you handle warehousing and transport?
Sownar works through a network of vetted partner facilities, transporters and freight forwarders. This is deliberate: it lets us match the right facility to each commodity and volume.
Can you supply commodities that are not listed on the site?
Often, yes. The list on the site reflects what we are set up to supply today. If you need another Nigerian or West African commodity, ask and we will tell you honestly whether we can source it to your spec.
